It’s International Face Your Fears Day, so what better day to confront your fears and plan a trip to a fun amusement park near a Festiva resort? Here are three spots guaranteed to give you a thrill.
Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri
Silver Dollar City is an 1880s-styled theme park complete with blacksmiths, old timey shows, great old fashioned cooking in huge skillets, and, of course, wooden and steel roller coasters! Coming spring of 2018 is Time Traveler, the world’s fastest, steepest, and tallest spinning roller coaster. You can also test your nerves on Outlaw Run, a wooden roller coast with three upside down twists, PowderKeg, with its super fast launch, Thunderation, a classic wooden caster, and Wildfire, a steel coaster that travels up to 66 MPH. Twelve stage venues, more than 40 rides and attractions, 12 restaurants and 60 shops, and wild rollercoasters round out Silver Dollar City. It’s not an attraction to miss!
Mount Olympus, Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
When driving the strip in the Dells, you can’t miss the iconic Trojan Horse go cart track at Mount Olympus Theme Park. They’ve expanded numerous times since the horse went up, and now have a variety of attractions to make your stomach drop. Check out the Hades 360 rollercoaster, the world’s first upside down wooden roller coaster, with the world’s longest underground tunnel. You’ll hit speeds of 70 MPH after a 140 foot drop. Check out the Zeus coaster with 2,700 feet of track and a 60 MPH plunge. There’s also the Pegasus coaster, the Cyclops, and more go kart tracks and hands on experiences to satisfy any thrill seeker.
There isn’t just one place we can recommend in Orlando, since the whole town is one big attraction. Check out Mako at Seaworld if you want to go for the gold- it’s the tallest, fastest, and longest coaster in town. The highlight of Manta roller coaster at Seaworld is a 270 degree turn with jets of water spraying against the side of the ride to simulate diving through the aquarium. You get to look through the aquarium too, as you wait to get on board the ride. And don’t miss the Incredible Hulk coaster at Universal Studios Florida- it launches from zero to 40 MPH in 2 seconds, into a weightless zero G roll along the course. You’ll reach 67 MPH and go up to 150 feet in the air on this one, more than enough to allow you to face your fears!
