Hello travelers. We hope you’re having a great day. If you plan on visiting central Florida this month, here are a few events that will offer you a little detour after you’ve hit all the theme parks.
Starting with some music, the Old Florida Outdoor Festival takes place just north of Orlando in Apopka, Florida, Feb. 9 and 10. The fest returns with concerts, a car show, the state BBQ championship, a kid’s zone, and more.
Did you know that nearly half of all Florida agricultural land is involved in cattle production? Florida is a huge cattle state, and with that comes cowboys. Come see the Silver Spurs Rodeo in Kissimmee, the largest rodeo east of the Mississsippi. The fun family event is Feb. 16-18 and features all seven traditional rodeo events: bull riding, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, tie down roping, and barrel racing. In between all the rodeo action, there will be an act by the rodeo clown and the famous and fast Silver Spurs Quadrille team who perform a square dance on horseback. A crowd favorite, and beloved Silver Spurs tradition, during the half way mark of the performance, children between the ages of 6 and 10 are invited to participate in the Calf Scramble where they come onto the dirt and chase a calf’s tail for a $5 prize. Well known as one of the best indoor rodeos of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), the Silver Spurs Rodeo in February draws contestants from all over the nation, many national champions, to compete for $100,000 in prize money.
