August is Family Fun Month | Feeling the Florida Heat

Did you know that August is Family Fun Month? It makes perfect sense to us- with all the sunshine, time off school, and warm weather, August is a perfect month for family fun. This month let’s take a look at ways you can join along in the fun at some activities near Festiva’s family of resorts.

New Smyrna Beach, Florida

  1. Canaveral National Seashore
Canaveral National Seashore is 24 miles of undeveloped beach, thousands of acres of marsh and wildlife refuge, hiking trails, boat launches, fishing spots, and rocket launch viewing areas of nearby Cape Canaveral. Monthly activities are listed on the website, such as Saturday night star gazing, pontoon boat trips, and canoeing the Mosquito Lagoon.
  2. Kennedy Space Center
Space and science fans, this is your mecca. See historical rockets and space craft, train to be an astronaut, and even see a live rocket launch from a special viewing area! Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is organized into Mission Zones where attractions and tours are grouped by chronological era. From the dawn of space exploration to current and ongoing missions, you can get an up-close, hands-on feel for the story of humans in space. The Heroes and Legends Exhibit celebrates the pioneers of NASA’s early space programs. Go Behind the Gates and get access to historic launch sites and working spaceflight facilities on special bus tours. The Race to the Moon exhibit showcases the massive Saturn V moon rocket. Shuttle: a Ship Like No Other has the actual space shuttle Atlantis, and the Shuttle Launch Experience. The NASA Now and Next exhibit shows where we are now, and where we’re going.
  3. Daytona International Speedway Tour
Visitors to the world famous Daytona International Speedway can choose the Speedway Tour (30 minute exploration of the speedway), the All Access Tour (90 minute open air tram), or the VIP Tour (3 hour air-conditioned bus tour.) Guests should also check out the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America, which recently moved from Novi, Michigan. The museum honors all forms of motorsports: stock cars, sports cars, open-wheel, motorcycles, drag racing, land speed records, powerboating and aviation. Fans can also do a NASCAR ride along or even take the wheel in a variety of racing packages.
