August is Family Fun Month | Ocean City, Maryland is Calling

Did you know that August is Family Fun Month? It makes perfect sense to us, with all the sunshine, time off school, and warm weather, August is a perfect month for family fun. This month let’s take a look at ways you can join along in the fun at some activities near Festiva’s family of resorts.

Ocean City, Maryland

  1. Free Family Fun
Free family fun runs all summer long starting in June. Times and locations vary depending on the activity. All activities can be found on www.ococean.com.During the summer, Ocean City is jam-packed with family-friendly activities like concerts, seaside movie nights and the Beach Olympics. Six nights a week, every week. And they’re absolutely free, the way it should be! The popular Sundaes in the Park weekly event combines a free concert with an ice cream sundae (small fee) at Northside Park on 125th Street, starting at 7 p.m. While parents enjoy the music, children will enjoy special entertainment just for them. The evening ends with a firework display at 9 p.m. Come join us for beach fireworks on Mondays and Tuesdays at N. Division Street. Each show is approximately 8 minutes in length. Fireworks will be visible along the boardwalk.  Dates and times to be announced. Families can also enjoy movies on the beach at several locations- check the website for details.
  2. Jolly Roger’s Amusement Park
This is Ocean City’s largest family amusement park, and is fun for all ages. Your Passport to Fun in O.C. includes Speed World, now home of one of the largest collections of go carts and tracks in the country with more than 11 tracks and 400 cars. Jolly Roger’s crown jewel, Splash Mountain Water Park was named the Best Small Waterpark on the east coast by Fun World Magazine, the Amusement Industry’s leading trade magazine. Hold on to your hats, Jolly Roger presents our latest addition, the Cyclone Cart Coaster! More than 1,500 feet long and five stories tall, the Cyclone fuses two of your favorite park attractions: go-carts and roller coasters. Hop into one of our 40 new go-carts, which pack twice the horsepower of our regular carts. This family-owned and operated amusement park has become a tradition of family fun for generations of tourists.
  3. Ocean City’s Boardwalk
The Travel Channel called Ocean City’s classic wooden boardwalk America’s best. National Geographic named it one of the top 10 in the U.S. And USA Today named it one of the nation’s best boardwalks for food. In short, it’s three miles of highly concentrated fun. Start your day on the Ocean City boardwalk with a morning bike ride. You can bring your own, or rent one from one of the many bike shops. Or, if you’d rather just sit back and ride, the boardwalk tram can whisk you anywhere in minutes, while you enjoy a beautiful ocean view. Day or night, there’s always something happening – and quite often, it’s free. Amusements and arcades are fun for children of all ages. Catch a spectacular view from the top of the Ferris wheel, or scream with delight on our roller coaster. There’s even a magnificent 1902 carousel.
