We know that many of you have been waiting to hear about the status of our Atlantic Beach Resort in Atlantic Beach, N.C. Yesterday, we were able to get our resort leadership, a structural engineer and an insurance adjuster to the property to fully assess the damage done by Hurricane Florence. Based on what was found, the decision was made to keep the resort closed through the month of October to complete repairs. We will be reaching out to all those with impacted reservations checking in through October 31.
The resort’s buildings suffered roof damage as well as water damage. The landscaping was also damaged, as was the indoor pool structure.
As far as the town of Atlantic Beach, the end of Oceana Pier was destroyed, and winds blew in a wall of Crows Nest Marina. There was also considerable beach erosion and there are still lots of downed trees and debris, and some areas are still without power. While the area is accessible, community leaders are encouraging people to come to the area only if necessary. They are also advising anyone in the area to stay out of the ocean. Some local businesses started to reopen this week. A list of reopenings and other information regarding hurricane recovery can be found on the Town of Atlantic Beach Facebook page.
We thank you for your patience as we are all dealing with the aftermath of this storm.
