Our late afternoon update provided information about mandatory evacuations of the South Carolina coast. Since then, many areas of the coast of North Carolina, including Carteret County, are also under mandatory evacuation beginning at 12 noon tomorrow with all visitors and residents evacuating to a safe location by 8 p.m. the following day. No access onto Bogue Banks will be allowed from the Atlantic Beach or Emerald Isle Bridges after 7 am on Thursday, September 13. Everyone will be denied access onto the island at that time until further notice. A re-entry pass only pertains to entry onto the island after a storm.
This will impact Festiva’s Atlantic Beach Resort in Atlantic Beach, N.C. Currently the resort is in hurricane preparation mode and our team there is doing all that they can to keep resort staff, guests and the property safe. The resort will close once all guests and employees have evacuated and will remain closed until further notice.
